In 2024 is er weer veel gebeurd.
Persoonlijke groei, en ik leer steeds meer over het grote effect van mijn mentale gesteldheid op mijn fysieke gezondheid en welzijn.

Mijn verhaal: na het verlies van onze zoon Lukas in 2014 heb ik het mentaal zwaar gehad, en eerlijk gezegd heb ik dat nog steeds. Het is ongelofelijk moeilijk zonder hem. Met mijn overlevingsmechanismen (die tot nu toe nog redelijk werkten) red ik het niet meer. En dat is klote. Dat betekent ook dat ik me op veel gebieden opnieuw moet uitvinden en moet leren om beter voor mezelf te zorgen. En dat gaat met vallen en opstaan.

Ik heb geleerd dat velen van ons soms worstelen met geestelijke gezondheid.

Ik laat in november weer een snor staan om bewustwording te creëren voor de mentale gezondheid van mannen.

Als je financieel mee wil helpen, kun je een donatie doen. Kijk vooral op de site van Movember waar je geld aan besteed wordt.

Maar probeer in ieder geval met iemand te praten als je het moeilijk hebt OF vraag eens hoe het gaat aan iemand waarvan je denkt dat hij of zij het nodig heeft.

Ik ben altijd beschikbaar voor een gesprek, als je dat nodig hebt. Ik ben die man met de indrukwekkende snor.

A lot has happened again in 2024.
Personal growth, and I'm learning more and more about the big effect of my mental state on my physical health and well-being.

My story: after the loss of our son Lukas in 2014, I had a hard time mentally, and to be honest, I still do. It's incredibly difficult without him. My survival mechanisms (which have worked reasonably well so far) aren’t working anymore. And that sucks. That also means that I have to reinvent myself in many ways and learn to take better care of myself. And that is a rocky road.

I've learned that many of us struggle with our mental health at times.

I'm growing a moustache again in November to raise awareness for men's mental health.

But at least try to talk to someone if you're having a hard time OR be brave and have a chat with someone you think might need it.

In November I will walk, cycle, run and swim a total of 120 km. I am convinced that there is a strong connection between mental and physical health. One cannot go without the other.
